Blow your way with the Air Horns

If you have heard the ear splitting sound of an air horn, you already know what it is! It is a device which produces an extremely loud noise which works on air pressure. They have been used mostly in emergency vehicles owing to the fact that they produce very high noise and can attention easily. It has also been used in heavy vehicles such as trailers and heavy trucks. Even ships use these horns as signals while trains use it for warning.

Let us understand how an air horn works. They work on pressure at a very high intensity. To create air pressure at such high intensity, you need an air source. The source of air is an air tank and a compressor is used to pressurize the air inside the tank. There is a valve through which this pressurized air will flow as well as some other hardware which produces the required decibel of sound.

You will see almost all emergency vehicles with an air horn. US fire trucks are installed with the stuttertone horn. Ambulances are also fitted with these horns. The large sound produced by these horns act as a warning signal even before the vehicle reaches. This helps to clear way for the emergency vehicle ensuring that no time is lost before reaching the destination. The train horns have taken a recent craze amongst car owners as well. Trucks did have these horns even earlier but air horns in SUVs and cars are new. However an average road user does not require such high decibel sound and these are installed just for the fancy for it. In some countries it is not allowed to use air horns for ordinary vehicles and even having them installed is an offence. Elsewhere, the jurisdictions of roads where such high decibels of sound cannot be used are clearly demarcated. High sounds are usually prohibited where there are hospitals, schools and courts. Even in high security areas air horns may not be permitted to use.

In addition to being used on vehicles, these are also used in factories for warning workers. You can find air horns in mining areas and construction site, again being used as a warning device. Smaller versions of such horns can also be used for personal safety. Children especially love to use the small air horns to create the high decibel sound. These smaller versions are portable and will fit easily into a travel bag. If are a sports fan, you will find many of these horns in a sports event, where fans use it to encourage their favorite teams. They are also used in some games like ice hockey to indicate the start and end of a game.

There are many variants of air horn in the market today. You can buy a personal horn for anything between $10 and $50. Air horns can be purchased online and you can choose from a variety of models. They work on the atmospheric gases and hence are environment friendly. You need not worry about any toxic gases being emitted to the atmosphere while you use them. It is perfectly legal to use them for personal safety, at refineries and construction sites.

A sonic air horn is one which is used for safety purposes. It makes a very distinct and loud sound that can be heard from quite a large distance. You will find many variants of air horns with lot many features today in the market. The price varies depending on the features of the horn. It is advisable to buy a complete kit since the installation is easier.

Can i be charged with anything for blowing an air horn in the phone when a telemarketer calls?

I have a credit card company calling multiple times a day. I dont have a credit card. They wont stop calling. Can i get charged with anything if i blow an air horn into the phone when the call.?

Nope, I cuss them out or whatever I want, they are on My phone, In My house and I can do what ever I want. Also in the US you can get on the No Call List and if you have never done any business with them they can be fined for calling you.
I had some crack head who worked for me use my cell number for some credit and it took me quite a while to convince them I was not him.. talk to a manager and then threaten legal action... first ask for a contact number or you will never be able to find them ..then I would consider suing them for harassment.
I would also try to get an address and send them a cease and desist letter. This is good evidence in court.
