Moringa Oil Amazing Properties
The properties of the Moringa Oleifera oil have been known for centuries: Egyptians buried vials of the life-giving Moringa Oleifera oil in their tombs, Arabs in the desert spread the oil on their faces to ward off the ravages of sun and wind, ancient Romans prized the oil as a stable foundation for perfumery. miscible liquids: Question regarding mixes?
If alcohol and water are miscible, and castor oil and alcohol are miscible.. Then if you mix Castor oil and alcohol, then mix that with water, will the liquid one whole liquid? Or would it separate.
I am wondering if the oil will cling to the alcohol, while the alcohol is able to cling with the water, thus having one nice liquid that stays as is without starting to like curdle and separate.
This falls under the category of something called an emulsion. Now it all depends on how much of each liquid you are dealing with and how well it is mixed, but in general here is what would happen.
They can form emulsions, which is when one liquid phase is trapped in the other one via the alcohol, which acts as a "surfactant". This is a molecule which partly likes water and partly likes oil. So it will in essence be half-way into each phase. By liking both oil and water, the alcohol will keep one phase (we'll say oil here for example) in small droplets dispersed within the other phase (water in this example). So to the naked eye, it may look like an evenly mixed solution. In fact, There are small droplets of one in the other, and the size is very dependent on which materials are used.
There will be no "curdling", that is specific to dairy products. After time, it can separate into oil ontop of water, though if the droplet sizes are small enough, the solution can be stable for upwards of years. Think of mayonnaise - it can stay mixed for a long time, even though it is made up of oil and vinegar held in suspension by the egg white.
