Tips to Connect Your Laptop to your TV Set
Are you facing any issues in connecting your laptop to your Television set? If yes, continue reading this.
It is always better to watch your favorite movies on your TV rather than watching it on your Laptop because of better viewing experience. However, you may face some issues while connecting your laptop to the TV set. Problems often arise as people get confused while connecting cables between laptop and Television and end up in getting improper connection. Therefore, it is very important to know the exact way to connect both. Follow the steps given below which will address your concerns related to connecting Laptop to Television.
Before you try to connect your laptop to your TV you need to make sure that you are having the following cables or cords with you.
1. S-Video
2. Composite/ Phono Plug
3. Video Graphics Array
4. Digital Video Interface
5. High Deficiency Multimedia
1. S-Video or Super Video is a sophisticated video connector which is used when connecting the Laptop to the TV. This is most popular and also the cheapest way to make a laptop TV connection. Before you connect the S-Video cord you need to make sure that your laptop has this port.
2. Composite/ Phono Plug is used for connecting the video and audio components. They usually come with the normal three colored sockets:
White socket to be connected to the left audio
Yellow socket connected to the composite video
Red color for the right audio
3. VGA or Video Graphics Array is used to connect between a laptop and a TV set. However, you need to keep certain things in mind while connecting with a VGA cord. The following are the steps involved.
a. Set your laptop at a low resolution
b. Connect the cables
c. Get your laptop to TV VGA source or press the function key on your laptop and simultaneously press the monitor button on your TV
4. DVI or Digital Video Interface is always the better option as they provide you with a better picture quality than when using the S-Video or VGA cables. You just need to ascertain whether your laptop has a DVI connection and the Television should be a HDTV.
5. HDMI or High Deficiency Multimedia is only half the size of a DVI cord. It can provide you with digital audio along with digital video. No additional audio cable required when using a HDMI cord.

Help! How do I connect my laptop to my surround sound system.?
I would like to play music from my Dell laptop on my Sony DAV-DZ100 home theatre system but the only input on the dvd player appears to be scart. Is it possible to get a lead that will take audio from the laptop's 3.5mm socket and input it to the scart on the player. If not, do I have to connect via the TV using the composite inputs? I would rather connect directly to the DVD player. Thanks in advance!
If your laptop has a CD or DVD burner, just save the music to a disk, and play it on your DVD Player. If you are talking about live Internet music, just buy a cable that has the mini stereo plug on on end, and left and right audio on the other. Plug that into an input on your receiver. (You said nothing about video, so I wont go there.) I hope this helps.
