Being a part of the Ares download network means that you have access to over 100 million music, video, movie, image, document and application files. That's all fine and good if you only want to use what you download on your computer, but what do you do if you want to transfer those files elsewhere or take them with you on the go?
If you don't want to burn the files to a disc or transfer them to your iPod, then the best way to transfer the files is by using either an SD card or a flash drive. This way, you can both upload new files to your Ares library and take files from your Ares library to share elsewhere. Here is the simplest way to do both:
How to Transfer Files from Your Ares Download Library to a Portable Storage Device
The easiest way to transfer files from your Ares library to a portable storage device such as an SD card or flash drive is to simply open up a window for the portable storage device, open up the Shared Folder window of Ares and drag and drop the files you want to transfer.
The Shared Folder of Ares is usually stored in: C:Program FilesAresMy Shared Folder, but you can always double-check by starting your Ares program and going to the "Control Panel" tab. From this screen you will see the file path for the download directory. Incidentally, you can also change the download directory file path from this screen if you wish to have Ares download files to a different location on your computer.
How to Transfer Files from a Portable Storage Device into Your Ares Library
If you wish to pull files from a portable storage device and include them in your Ares library so that they can be shared with the network, there are two main ways to do it. You can do the reverse of the steps described above, or you can open Ares, go to the "Library" tab, select the "Preferences" button and click "Manual Configure." From here, you'll be able to direct Ares to import files directly off of your portable storage device.
Does the Ares Download Automatically Check For Duplicates?
Yes. When transferring files into your Ares download library, the program will automatically tell you if you are trying to import a duplicate file, so you don't end up with multiple copies of the same thing taking up extra hard drive space.
Make sure that you have the latest version of the Ares download software for the best results.
