Why does my 1.6 vectra B have a flat spot?
I have a '99 vectra with a flat spot when i am accellerating and reach 1500 to 2000 RPM - once the car has struggled past those revs it runs fine.
I have cleaned out all the air inlets and idle valve to no avail (although i didn't expect this to be the problem).
I've also cleaned the spark plugs which seems to have done nothing.
I've had a tech 2 diagnostic which reveals no faults
so i'm now at a loss! I find it very odd that i only have a problem at a certain RPM and then everything's ok again.
Oh and it's an Ecotech engine with a dis-pack rather than the old style leads...

Ok what you need to do is a data analysis, in other words attach the tech 2 run the vehicle and get the problem to happen , on the tech 2 there is a programme called a snapshot , get a snapshot when the problem happens , then get another vehicle of the same specifications , run that car to where yours is falling over and snapshot that vehicle , compare the two data's and you will find the problem that way. One big problem with these engines is the EGR (Exhaust gas recirculation) valve , this could be sticking , but the data will show you that .
