Engine" slight rattle "2003 Fiesta 1.4 zetec.?
I have just been to view a 2003 fiesta 1.4 Zetec (102,000miles) and everything is ok with the car with the exception of a slight rattle when idling., You can't hear it when driving and the engine sounds smooth otherwise and pulls well. The owner told me that the local garage said it's the hydraulic tappets which need replacing but nothing serious and the car can be driven without problems and the owner said it was there when they bought the car 12 months ago but has been fine. the car has just been MOT'd and passed with flying colours.
Also the engine says Duratec on the top and not Zetec, is that right?
Any input on this would be a great help and very appreciated.

Noisy tappets normally mean top end wear in the engine. I wouldn't touch this car.
