Ball Joint Press - Fix It Right The First Time
Do you notice excessive play in your steering wheel? Does it shake or vibrate? You might need to replace the ball joints on your car or truck. A bad joint can cause this and several other problems.
The worst case scenario, it could break which could possibly cause you to lose control of your vehicle. We both know that is not good. It can also affect your gas mileage. We all need to get as much as we can out of a gallon of gas and a worn out joint can really alter your gas mileage for the worst. It can also cause your tires to wear out prematurely. Tires are not cheap! I want them to last as long as possible and I am sure you do to. Replacing a bad joint can solve all of these problems.
If you are going to replace the joint yourself, then you have got to get a ball joint press. This tool will not only save you time, money and frustration but it will allow you to properly remove that old part without damaging anything else. Who wants one repair to ultimately lead to another? I know I do not.
When a ball joint is installed at the factory, it is pressed in by a machine with a lot of torque. It is not supposed to come off easily. A joint press will allow you to apply the necessary leverage to remove the old worn out ball joint and get you back on the road. Anytime you are working on a vehicle, always remember safety first!
