Southern California Apparel Brand Preserving Automotive History
Morgan's and Phillip's announced today licensing agreement with Barris Kustom City as well as an expanded range of Shelby American for summer 2011. Both Barris and Shelby are legends in the automotive industry whose legacies still shape the industry today.
M&P is committed to preserving the rich history of automotive and motorcycle culture by creating more than just automotive themed shirts. "The difference with our apparel, is that everything we do is based in reality, from our Barris shop shirt that is a reproduction of the actual shirt worn by Barris employees in the late 40's, to our lost race track series" said Michael Satterfield founded of M&P. Getting the history right is important to the team at M&P, who spend hours researching each product, pouring over vintage publications, searching the internet, or hunting through their vast archive of vintage apparel.
Unlike many companies who produce "vintage themed" apparel, M&P products have the correct look, feel, and style of the era. This has proven popular with both purists in the automotive community and the world of fashion. "I am not fashion a guy; I am a car guy and history nerd, growing up in Southern California with the car culture and I always felt like I was born a little too late. I missed the days when racetracks were just about everywhere. We have lost Riverside International Raceway, Ontario Motor Speedway, Fontana Drag City, and a half dozen other tracks that were in the area. I started researching these tracks and the men and women who raced on them. That's how it all got started," said Michael.
M&P sees an opportunity to preserve some unique American history with their products, even if it is just in a small way. Their studio is just north of historic Route 66 in California, and a focus of upcoming products will be local historic roadside attractions that once greeted millions of travelers coming to California on the mother road. HELP! Ideas for my company name?
I am starting my own custom paintings company. I wanted Kustom Kreations first off, then I saw www.kustomkreations.com wasn't available so I tried customcreations.com and that also isn't available. I wanted to stick with something similar. I already own the site customizedpaintings.com (it's not up yet) but as far as my company name I am upset because I had "kustom kreations" in my head for so long that now I can't think of anything else.
Any suggestions? I would really appreciate it! This is holding me back
Since any names that are suggested here may already be owned by another party, I wanted to go a different route...
I suggest either hiring a name creation firm or get together with your friends and/or family and throw a "name party" & have everyone bounce some ideas around. Compile a listing of names that you like the best. Once you have that list, do as much free research as you can before you delve into comprehensive research.
I listed some links where you can do some preliminary name checking. However, please be aware that this is merely scratching the surface of what's out there.
Only comprehensive research will tell you if the name is truly available. But, these links are free & a great place to start, so I'd try them out first.
Comprehensive research consists of looking at marks that are similar in Sound, Appearance or Meaning in the pending & registered Federal AND State trademark files as well as the US National Common-Law files.
There are other sites that offer free searching capabilities in conjunction with their commercial services, so I'm not able to post those links due to the Yahoo! TOS. You'll also want to check domain names & yellow pages, so simply do a search for "free domain name search" and "national yellowpages" and the appropriate links will pop up.
