I just bought a new USB flash memory disk, but before I open it...?

I wanted to know if A-Data is a recommended brand. Will it last long? Is it easily damaged? I don't mean is it breakable, but does it function well?
Also, I got the 8GB one with, supposedly, a lifetime waranty. Is $37 a good price, or did I get ripped off? I'd like to know before I actually open it. Should I exchange it or did I get a good deal?
They told me it was a low profit item too! They didn't give me a discount like they usually do. If I go anywhere else, it'll just be more expensive. Aparently, in my country, this is a good price. Just wanted to compare... thanks skh

8 gigs pretty cheap these days $20 at best buy, im sure A-data is a fine brand, not that i have used myself, you can get a PNY @ best buy for $20.
i would say it's a fine flash drive at a bad price
