3 Things To Know About A 2 Post Lift
One of the more popular types of vehicle lifts available to garages and shops is the 2 post lift. That said, here's a look at some of the more important details, and benefits, of this style of automotive lift.
Cost - A rather nice aspect of this type of lift is the relatively low cost. It's very affordable compared to others such as a 4 post lift. You can find these running from around $2500 and up. Compare that to the approximate $4000-$5000 starting range for a 4 post lift. Naturally, this will all depend on the model and the lifting capacity. The lowest cost lift will be the auto scissor lift. It's about half the price, but you'll be more limited with how you can use it.
Space - When it comes to space, 2 post lifts will require a smaller amount of space than their bigger counterparts. All you have is the two lifting columns coming up from the floor. On the other hand, a scissor lift will require a lot of extra room in your shop due to the way they are constructed.
Functionality - This is where a two post lift shines. It makes it so easy to work on the brakes, wheels, shocks, springs, exhaust systems and much more. With a scissors lift or a four post model, you'll have the platform to contend with, making it virtually impossible to work in specific areas on any vehicle.
Perhaps the main downside is that this style of lift must be permanently mounted to the garage floor. Scissor lifts are known for their portability and ability to be moved all around the shop floor.
