A synchronous motor is synchronized with the frequency of the 50 Hz or 60 Hz AC power so that it operates at an exact speed like 1500 RPM or 1800 RPM. An induction motor operate at an inexact and somewhat variable speed that is slightly less than synchronous speed such as 1455 or 1762 RPM.
