Painting Equipment

Using the Right Painting Equipment
Being prepared ahead of time will make your paint supply shopping quicker and easier. Think about all of the various types of painting equipment you may need for the job. This includes major equipment such as power sprayers, as well as smaller items like brushes and masking tape. Overlooking these minor, but crucial, items will cause your painting job to grind to a halt before you can even get started. You do not want to be running back to the store every time you realize you need an additional tool or brush, so make a comprehensive list before the first trip.
The best way to come up with a list of the painting equipment you will need is to mentally go through each step of the process. The first part is preparation, so think about any tools you may need to scrape existing wallpaper and paint off of your walls, along with sanding and priming the area. Do not forget about cleaning products to make sure that your walls are ready for the new paint to be applied. Spackle and a putty knife can be helpful if your walls have cracks or holes that must be repaired. Masking tape and dropcloths to protect your home from drips should also be included in this section of your materials list.
Consider the size of your painting job and what type of brushes, rollers, or sprayers will be required. While it is tempting to purchase the latest high-powered sprayer, this may be overkill to re-paint a small area such as a bathroom. Smaller electric sprayers can do the same work with much less expense and paint usage. Many home improvement stores offer painting equipment rental so you do not have to spend a lot of money on tools you may only use once or twice.
Safety equipment is also an important part of your materials list. Be sure you have sturdy clothing that you do not mind losing. It is almost guaranteed that you will get paint on yourself at some point during the process, so either wear coveralls or old clothes that can be discarded. Safety goggles and face masks should always be worn while painting or in areas where wet paint is drying. Be sure you can adequately ventilate your workspace during and after painting. If there is not enough natural airflow from windows and doors, you may need to purchase some fans. Using the right painting equipment will make the job more efficient and much safer for you and your family.

What are the necessary pieces of equipment to paint?
OK So I want to start painting like with canvases and oil paints and I needed a list to go buy my stuff. So I mean like drawing and then filling in the drawing on a canvas, some impressionist paintings or try painting like modern artists do. So what are the painting tools I need?
Canvas- You can get stretched canvas, which is more expensive than buying canvas paper yourself and making your own canvases or buying the canvas paper that is mounted on a piece of cardboard.
Paint- You also have two options here. Regular oil paint requires that you use linseed oil to thin it out and make it a little easier to work with. So that is added to this list if you use that kind. There are also water miscible oil paints which mix with water, letting you omit the linseed oil.
Paint brushes
Brush soap- This is the best stuff in the world for preserving your brushes and keeping them in the best condition.
Easel- These come in a variety of sizes and really beat painting flat. They allow you to get perspective on your work, as you create it.
Palette
Palette knife- Great for getting clean lines, scraping off excess paint and mixing colors in the palette.
Newspaper and or paper towels- Good for cleaning up messes, brushes, etc.
Paint Box- Anything can double as this as long as it has ample room for you to place everything inside. A sturdy box is the best option here.
