Which One is More Efficient Diesel Tuning or ECU Remapping?
If you are an automobile owner, you must be familiar with the word chip tuning. Chiptuning is nothing but a slight alteration made to the car's electronic control unit in order to improve its performance efficiency. Performance here would include both speed and fuel efficiency.
Chip tuning is done not only for improving your car's efficiency but also to rectify engine intake and make other exhaust modifications to your car. Wondering how ECU remapping is done? Well the most common way of improving ECU performance is by using plug in modules or an OBD flash tool.
In case you are going for a diesel tuning box, you can expect 20% to 40% improvement in your vehicle torque and power. In fact the main objective behind of a diesel tuning box is to seize signal flow of signals between ECU and fuel injection system of the vehicle.
Turbo diesels are going to become the future of car tuning especially because these engines offer consistent tuning by retaining the originality of your turbo diesel powered vehicle. More over an ECU remapping is economical and the results tend to last long.
Despite their own individual merits, vehicle owners are always in a dilemma when it comes to choosing diesel tuning over chip tuning (remapping). Although we hear that remaps are better in comparison to tuning boxes, this is not always the case. When it comes to performance you generally do not find noticeable difference. • Changes brought about by ECU remapping are one time and cannot be reversed. On the other hand diesel tuning comes with 9 pre loaded tuning modes that would help you derive maximum benefits out of it both in terms of horse power and fuel efficiency.
• ECU remapping is slightly costly affair and is applicable to the car in use. The moment you buy a new car, you need to start from scratch. While this is not the case with diesel tuning box. This box can be fitted and removed as per your wish and convenience. So you can use the same box for you new car without incurring any additional expenses.
• Tuning boxes are least disturbed even when your car goes in for a water service. Hence you would not incur any expenses for reinstalling the same after car servicing. But this is might not be the case with ECU remapping.
Finally we would like to conclude stating that both ECU remapping and diesel tuning boxes have their own set of merits and demerits. So the final decision is left to individual's choice.
