Adjusting a guitar neck and my truss rod won't turn any more. How do I get even lower action?
I've tightened my truss rod as much as I feel comfortable doing it and I still don't have my action low enough. I know it's possible to get it lower as my last guitar tech did it. I'm just looking for advice.
It is an electric guitar but I can't take it back in to my tech as I have moved out of the country. I would really like to try and get this myself but on the otherhand I really don't want to screw it up.
If your guitar tech did it, have him/her do it again. Otherwise, have the grooves in the nut filed more. Don't mess with the bridge unless it's an acoustic. If it IS an acoustic, you can always file away the bridge on the bottom. That is, loosen the strings, remove the bridge piece, and sand down the bootom of it to reduce the height. Probably, the best thing to do would be to take it to a guitar shop and have them fix it for you. That way, it's on them to get it right.
