MI Dodge Dealers Hear Rumor about Renaming of Dodge Ram, MI Auto Times Announces

DETROIT, M.I. – MI Dodge dealers may have heard some industry buzz about Chrysler renaming its Dodge Ram line of trucks, especially if they read a recent article from PickupTrucks.com.

The story mentioned plans for a truck to replace the Dodge Dakota that would fall under the Ram name, and also said that Chrylser was said to be thinking about a change in name for pickup trucks.

MI Dodge dealers reading the story would not be able to find out who said what, since it was unnamed sources providing the information. The current setup for Ram trucks is split into the Ram 1500, which is a half-ton truck, and the 2500 or 3500 lineup which consists of heavy-duty trucks. The rumor MI Dodge dealers were hearing suggested that the new addition, or replacement for the Dakota, could potentially be the Ram 1000 or even 100. PickupTrucks.com said they were told Chrysler was favoring the 100. If Chrysler did create the Ram 100 name, the rest of the trucks would also require change along the same numerical lines, such as the Ram 150 instead of Ram 1500.

The article also goes on to note the Ford F150 being a similar three-digit numbering system and questioned whether buyers would want to purchase the new Dodge Ram 150, or 250, etc., after the name change.

Yet, when it all comes down to truth, no such naming is to take place. Dave Elshoff told PickupTrucks.com that all of this speculation is a waste of time.

Elshoff told the truck website, "There have been no discussions whatsoever, nor any consideration given to changing the names of our incredibly successful and award-winning Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500 pickup trucks nor our 3500, 4500 and 5500 Ram Chassis Cab trucks."

MI Auto Times would like to know truck buyers' thoughts about the rumor. Even though Chrysler says the name-change is not now, nor has it ever been, taking place, are the shorter numbers more appealing than the current lineup? Or do they indicate less of a truck because it's less of a number?

i want to see a picture of the timing chains for a 1999 mercury cougar 2.5 before the timing cover is installed

Check with the library and see if they have any Chilton's Auto manuals, and if so, look for your car and year. See if there might be a picture of the timing chain, in the motor overhaul section.

You might try Auto zone, and see if they have a photo, under their free repair section.

Or google search / yahoo search 99 Mercury Cougar 2.5L timing chain, and see what comes up

here's a drawing,
