Common uses for Boom Trucks
A boom truck is sometimes recognized by the cable and phone business vans that have the elongated arm folded over their roofs. Commonly, a bucket-like equipment sits at the extension of extendable arms. Sometimes referred to as a cherry picker, or an aerial boom truck, a bucket truck has an extendable boom installed on the roof or bed. It is able to transport workers to the peak of a phone or electrical pole. Bucket boom vehicles have a lifting capacity of approximately 350 lbs to 1500 lbs or 158 kg to 680 kg plus they are able of extending the bucket up to 34 feet or just over 10 meters into the air.
Heavy equipment boom trucks or construction boom trucks might have a hoist attached to the rear. These particular type of lifts can be altered in many ways by use of different types of Boom Lift Attachments. When a hoist is attached to the rear we generally refer to these types as knuckle booms.
